Poor shooting Arizona falls 77-72 as season ends in Sweet 16

LOS ANGELES — No. 9 Arizona finished 5-for-28 from behind the three-point arc and their season is over after a 77-72 loss to Clemson in a NCAA Men’s West Regional Semifinal game at Crypto.com Arena.

The No. 2 seed Wildcats (27-9) fell down by as many as 13 points in the first half as UA opened the game missing 12 of their first 14 shots. Arizona rallied back to tie in the second half but still went a 13-minute stretch where they missed 19-of-21 from the floor.

UA’s starting guard trio of Caleb Love, Pelle Larsson and Kylan Boswell combined to go 2-for-20 from behind the arc.

Jaden Bradley led the way for the Wildcats with 18 points. Oumar Ballo, in likely his last game as a Wildcat, finished with 15 points and 15 rebounds but his season-long struggles at the free throw line remained evident as he missed 6-of-7 foul shots.

Chase Hunter had 18 points, 7 rebounds and five assists for Clemson (24-11). The Tigers reach the Regional Final for the second time in program history. P.J. Hall had 17 points and eight rebounds.

The Tigers made their final four shots to close out the game.
