Wildcats head to L.A. for the Sweet 16

SALT LAKE CITY — No. 9 Arizona took every punch that Dayton delivered Saturday and answered back with jab after jab to hold off the Flyers 78-68 at the Delta Center and advance to the program’s 20th Sweet 16.

Caleb Love led the Wildcats (29-6) with 19 points and five assists. Pelle Larsson and Keshad Johnson both scored 13. Jaden Bradley has 12 off the bench.

UA matched the three-point shooting Flyers ultimately winning that battle eight makes to seven.

Dayton (25-8) star Daron Holmes II had 23 points.

Arizona will await their opponent for a game next Thursday at the Center in Los Angeles. The Wildcats will face either Clemson or Baylor.

The Arizona Women’s Basketball team will play their second game of the NCAA Tournament today in Storrs, Connecticut against the Syracuse Orange. You can hear that game on Freedom 1400 KTUC with coverage beginning at 12:15 p.m.
