TUCSON, Ariz. (KVOA) – Arizona Women’s Basketball is going dancing!

The Wildcats are gearing up for the NCAA Tournament. The Men will play Long Beach State in Salt Lake City. The Women will play Auburn in the first four game.

The 11-seed Wildcats will play Auburn in the first four game in Storrs, Connecticut. The winner advances to play Syracuse in the Round of 64.

This is the U of A’s fourth straight NCAA Tournament appearance. The Cats lost to Maryland in the second round last year.

This is a huge opportunity for young Wildcats, who have defied the odds with just seven to eight available players. They’ve battled in the toughest conference in the country and made it to the Pac-12 quarterfinals. Arizona concluded the year with a 17-15 (8-10 Pac-12) record and the second-best NET Strength of Schedule. Arizona went on a late-season four-game win streak in Pac-12 play that included its first sweep of the Bay Area schools since 2001. The Cats defeated a pair of ranked opponents in No. 15 Utah and No. 3 Stanford, and its win over the Cardinal was its highest-ranked road win in program history.

Arizona is one of seven Pac-12 teams who made the Big Dance.

The date and time for Arizona’s first round matchup hasn’t been announced. The Cats will either play Wednesday or Thursday.

This is a developing story. Continue to follow News 4 Tucson on air and online for the latest updates.
