The Arizona Cardinals are set at the running back position thanks to the presence of James Conner, though little depth follows him. That’s no disrespect to the likes of Keaontay Ingram or Emari Demercado, but the Cardinals would have to drastically shift their gameplan without Conner in the mix.
For months, the entire football world has been keeping a close eye on the situation between the Indianapolis Colts and RB Jonathan Taylor. Two years ago, Taylor established himself as one of the best backs in the league after a tremendous 2021 season that saw just north of 1,800 yards with 18 touchdowns on the ground as well.
Now, heading into the final year of his deal, Taylor wanted a new contract (with a massive pay raise) and the Colts didn’t oblige. Taylor was on the trade block and threatened to sit out, though his placement on the PUP list to begin the season ensured he would miss at least the first four weeks regardless.
Whether Indianapolis plans on trading Taylor is still unknown, though oddsmakers have pinned the Cardinals as one of the top teams to land the All-Pro back if he does leave.
BetOnline has Arizona at +400 to land Taylor, which ranks second only behind the Baltimore Ravens (+300).
Top Ten:
- Ravens +300
- Cardinals +400
- Bears +500
- Dolphins +500
- Bills +600
- Buccaneers +600
- Chiefs +900
- Titans +1000
- Saints +1200
- Jets +1200
We’ve already covered why we don’t think Arizona trading for Taylor is smart, though it’s clear oddsmakers believe the Cardinals are very much in play for the running back.
