Audiences to pick winners in head-to-head Phoenix art battle

The Art Battle series returns to a Phoenix hotel this month.

Kicking off Friday, Sept. 15, the event at the FOUND:RE Phoenix Hotel, at 1100 N. Central Ave., features a three-round painting competition during which 12 artists have just 20 minutes to complete a painting and compete for a chance to move on to the Art Battle championship.

But their fate is in the audience’s hands. Guests decide who moves on to the championship by voting through their smart phones.

Doors open at 7 p.m. An opening painter will start off the festivities, and the competition begins at 7:30 p.m.

Early bird tickets start at $15 through Friday, Sept. 8 and then increase to $20 (plus taxes and fees). Tickets at the door are $25.
