Jack Welch’s Flagstaff Trailheads columns from over the years

Initiated four years ago through the Flagstaff Adult Center, the
FUTS Fun Walk Series was organized around the idea that support for
the urban trail would be greatly improved by showing residents
where it was located throughout the community. Identifying proposed
connections was also considered important, as was providing a
format for citizen recommendations.

This year the name of the series has been changed to “FUTS
Explorer Walks,” and the stated goal is to complete 20 different
tours of our urban trail system inside a 40-day time frame. The
first walk in the series is Friday, June 27, at 6 p.m. and will
start from the Adult Center parking lot, 245 Thorpe Road. The
distance of these walks will vary between three and five miles, and
the topography encountered will be as unique as our mountain
community.

All the walks are free, have a different route and operate under
