Maricopa Police Department is hosting a training session this week, drawing law enforcement agencies from across the state to Maricopa.

Police cruisers from Glendale, Gilbert and Casa Grande posted up at the Maricopa Library and Cultural Center this morning, along with a truck sporting the Arizona Game and Fish seal.

“Thirty-five individuals are participating from across the state,” city spokesperson Monica Williams said. “They will be here through the end of the week.”

The 40-hour instructor course held by MPD will clear attendees to teach AZ POST courses on myriad law enforcement topics.

AZ POST, or the Arizona Peace Officer Standards and Training Board, establishes the minimum qualifications for certification to serve as a law enforcement officer in the state, according to Arizona State Library.
